Combining words, melody, and rhythm helps our brains remember in a powerful way! When we sing we break down words into their smallest parts, each linked with a musical note. This practice helps so much as a child learns to read! Don't worry if you feel you can't sing - your child wants to hear your voice. Clap your hands or slap your knees to to really feel the beat. Shaker Library carries many song books, stories to sing, and CD's to sing along with. Also included in this list is a link to a web site where you can download many free songs and printouts to help you get started. Happy singing!
