"Everyone thinks Emmy Dockery is crazy. Obsessed with finding the link between hundreds of unsolved cases, Emmy has taken leave from her job as an FBI researcher. Now all she has are the newspaper clippings that wallpaper her bedroom, and her recurring nightmares of an all-consuming fire. Not even Emmy's ex-boyfriend, field agent Harrison "Books" Bookman, will believe her that hundreds of kidnappings, rapes, and murders are all connected. That is, until Emmy finds a piece of evidence he can't afford to ignore. More murders are reported by the day--and they're all inexplicable. No motives, no murder weapons, no suspects. Could one person really be responsible for these unthinkable crimes?"-- On leave from her FBI researcher career, Emmy Dockery tries to convince her boyfriend that hundreds of unsolved cases are linked to a single perpetrator.

There is some negative feedbackj about Patterson's co-authored books. However, this was a winner. Couldn't put it down!

Keeps you guessing until the end. Great read. I used the audio cd to listen to the book, It's 9hrs of listening and I could not stop it in the middle had to finish the book in one sitting. Just when I thought I knew who did it they through in an unexpected twist. Can't wait for his next book. And for those who don't like the violence in Patterson's novels don't pick them up because most of his novels have to some extreme over the top violence in them, just skim over those parts and you will still get the gist of the plot lines

If excess violence and brutality equates to a good book then this one wins the prize as a classic.

I agree that he's 'churning' them out rapidly and I don't always read the co-authored books, but I enjoyed this one.

Great book, unexpected ending. I just have a question to Baker & Taylor - did you actually read this book? Because in the description above there are several mistakes - first of all Emmy has not taken leave from FBI - she was suspended, then there were not any "rapes, kidnappings and murders", just deaths during fires. Actually there were not rapes at all.

Nothing was ever said about why Emmy thought the murders were connected in the first place, which didn't impress me from the get-go. Another quickly churned out Patterson book, my interest is fading in this author, and this novel didn't help. Read it if you have nothing else to do.

Once again a terrific story, couldn't put it down. Thank you Mr. Patterson

I have been keeping away from Patterson and co books for past 3 years because of the redundancy and vague storyline. This book brought out old Patterson style back. I agree with other posts, this book is worth our time.

This was so bad that it was the first Patterson I literally skimmed through. The quality of his writing has suffered greatly since he began collaborating and churning his books out via his writing factory but this one was the dregs. What a shame I was really looking forward to it.
