True. Season three's first two episodes are its weakest stories to date (really corny MI-5-like action), but we're really watching it for the flair and chemistry between its main characters; and now, happily, amongst the other characters. Loved the brilliant bear hug by the detective in episode one, and episode two was the sweetest.. Watching Sherlock unravel at the thought of losing his friend to marriage was great. Perfectly executed stories that do not delve deeper into the mindset of its characters gets old too. Fingers crossed for an excellent season 4. Maybe Sherlock will dance again.

STILL FOUR STARS! I don't know how to add them.

Nabobs of negativity may complain, but this series is so far above ordinary Sherlock spin-offs, that series 3 is still excellent, compelling and stimulating. This series still has the wow factor that other mystery and crime shows aspire to, and there are surprises and twists in all three episodes. Oh, and other series don't have Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman at their best!

Three great mysteries, each 90 minutes of intrigue. Enjoyable mind games.

This excellent, quirky series has begun to sag. So many good series falter and deflate around the third season and this one is no exception. The plots now are thin; the dialogue is very weak, though the actors do their best to inflate it. Episode 3 twitches to life probably because it's the only one written by Steven Moffat instead of a committee. I hope that the BBC doesn't keep on cranking out more Sherlock series in the American manner of milking ideas to death. A good example of a wonderful series which had the sense to move on is Luther. It's best to leave while you're still interesting.

I know i may irk some people in saying this, but this is my least favorite of the series so far. Don't get me wrong, i still love it and seawolf is correct in the third episode makes up for any short comings in the first two of the 3rd season. Still. I highly HIGHLY recommend it.

the first 2 episodes of series 3 seem below par, but the 3rd more than makes up for them.

Mrs. Hudson: It changes people, marriage...
Sherlock Holmes: Mmmm. No it doesn't.
Mrs. Hudson: Well, you wouldn't understand 'cause you always live alone.
Sherlock Holmes: Your husband was executed for a double murder, you're hardly an advert for companionship.
Mrs. Hudson: Marriage changes you as a person in ways that you can't imagine...
Sherlock Holmes: As does a lethal injection.

====================

Sherlock Holmes: Point I'm trying to make is that I am the most unpleasant, rude, ignorant, and all round obnoxious arsehole that anyone could possibly have the misfortune to meet. I am dismissive of the virtuous,

Sherlock: Oh, please. Kill me? That was so two years ago.
