Dynamic, brilliantly coloured illustrations add to the excitement in this exuberant story about the power of a good book. A boy with big round glasses begs his older sister to read him a story about tigers, but too-cool big sis just gives him some alphabet soup and puts in her earbuds…so that she doesn’t even notice when the storybook tiger comes roaring out of the soup bowl! The boy’s battle against the tiger (including his clever use of kitchen tools) is no less dramatic for being pretend, and young readers will want to roar along with the satisfying ending. For more encounters with imaginary tigers, check out It's a Tiger! by David LaRochelle.
